Noisy Fans Will Choose Final Port Royal Dream Race Starter Saturday

Bring noisemakers to help raise the roof and set the field!

Port Royal – Fans who come to this Saturday’s Living Legends Dream Race for 410 sprints at Port Royal Speedway need to come prepared to make some noise.

They should bring air horns and hand bells.  Even pots and pans would work!

If they want to play a role in filling out the Dream A Main field, then they’ll have to make it loud and clear who they choose by making as much noise as they can.

It’s the fans that will choose the 25th and final starter in the Dream Race after the conclusion of the B Main.

Following the end of the last chance B Main, a roll call will be made of all the drivers who completed the event but who failed to qualify for the A.

And whichever driver gets the loudest response from fans as their name is called out will be the lucky 25th Dream Race starter.

So it will be up to the fans to hoot, holler, scream, whistle, stomp feet, clap hands, ring bells, squeeze horns and just plain get rowdy and raucous in order to get their vote counted.

Because it’s the fans themselves who will directly seat the final starter in the Dream Race field, a position worth $350 alone.

This year’s Dream event carries a purse of nearly $55,000 that will be paid out in twin 16-lap semi main feature events, the 30-lap Dream A feature and a non-qualifiers race to end the night.

In addition, some $3,000 in contingency cash and another $7,000-worth of contingency prizes are up for grabs at the event, pushing the night’s total value to sprint car drivers to a point nearing $70,000.

A fantastic field of sprint car teams is expected to assemble to vie for the lucrative Dream Race laurels.

This year’s race honors Living Legends Todd Shaffer and Patty Beam.

An autograph session with former Beam drivers and Shaffer owners along with NASCAR driver Dave Blaney is slated for underneath the grandstand between 5:30 and 6:15 pm.

Gates open at 4:30 pm.  Adult general admission is $27 with students ages 12 – 18 admitted for just $5.

Racing is slated for 7:30 pm.
