Port Royal Has Two Big PA Speedweek Shows This Week

Moon Shine Camo Rt. 35 Late Model Challenge Series Returns Saturday

Port Royal – Port Royal Speedway hosts a pair of Pennsylvania Speedweek races for the Weikert’s Livestock 410 sprint cars coming up this week, on Thursday, July 6 and on Saturday, July 8.

Celebrating its 27th year with the running of the 2017 series, PA Speedweek has become a can’t miss series of races and the events slated for Port Royal are sure to fit that bill.

Racing both nights begins at 7 pm.

Thursday’s show features the Speedweek sprint cars in a 30-lap main paying $7,000 to win.

The Gray’s Auto and Towing econo late models are also on the Thursday card, competing in the Dave Kepner Tribute paying $1,200 to win.

Kepner was the 1978 and 1979 Port Royal Hobby Stock track champion, recording 29 feature wins in the division.

Kepner fielded stock cars for decades at the track for not only himself but for his son Corey and was a former member of the Juniata County Agricultural Society Board of Directors.

Saturday’s racing action features not only the Speedweek sprint cars but also the River Valley Builders Super Late Models in another Moon Shine Camo Rt. 35 Challenge Series event.

While the Speedweek sprints race in another 30-lap main, this time paying $5,000 to win, the Moon Shine Camo Challenge Series late models will compete in a 25-lap feature paying $2,000 to the winner.

After two events having been completed in the 2017 Moon Shine Camo Series, one each at Port Royal and Selinsgrove Speedway, Coleby Frye currently leads Chad Hollenbeck in Moon Shine Series points with Jeff Rine holding down the third spot.

Adult general admission for the Saturday show is $22 with students ages 12 – 18 admitted for $10.

Thursday admission is set at $20 for adults and $10 for students.
