Short Track Super Series Big & Small Block Mods AND 410 Sprints Featured

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Port Royal Speedway will return to action this Friday night, October 12 at 7 pm with a rare Friday night show, with the Speed Showcase featuring the return of mighty modifieds to the track for the first time in some 30 years along with a 410 sprint car special.

The Short Track Super Series for big and small block mods will invade the track on Friday night, matching up some of the best drivers in both classes, all in one big show offering a $5,000 to win 40-lap feature event.

Overall winners on the STSS to date this season have been Stewart Friesen, 2, Sprakers, NY; along with one-time winners Ryan Watt of Boyertown, Jeff Strunk of Bechtelsville, Matt Sheppard of Waterloo, NY, and Jerry Higbie of Newburgh, NY.

The Port Royal event for the mods will be the next to last point race on the 2018 south region STSS schedule.

Sheppard enters the Port Royal race as the south region point leader over Watt, Dave Van Horn Jr., Craig Von Dohren and Ryan Godown.

Small block modified competition was once conducted weekly at the track for a short two-year span in 1986 and 1987.

The 410 sprint cars will compete in a 25-lap, $4,000 to win feature event on Friday night.

The sprint cars will compete in a dual heat format with passing points used to line up the main event.

The exciting event continues the slate of October racing at the historic Port Royal oval that ends on October 26 and 27 with the two-day World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Series highlighted by the running of the 51st annual Tuscarora 50 paying $51,000 to win on Saturday night.

Adult general admission for the October 12 racing program is set at $25 with students ages 12 – 18 admitted for $15.

The Speed Showcase program carries a raindate of Sunday, October 14 at 4 pm.
