Port Royal – Lance Dewease scored the 103rd sprint car victory of his career at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday night, taking $7,000 in the 27th annual Pennsylvania Speedweek 30-lap event for 410 sprint cars.

Port Royal cancels July 6

After sustaining two bouts of rain earlier in the day and with the expectation of moderate to heavy rain lasting through the evening, Port Royal Speedway has cancelled the July 6 racing program.  The decision was made after consulting with the National Weather Serivce in State College, PA.  According to meteorologists with the weather service, persistent rain and drizzle is expected to last into Friday.  Port Royal will return on Saturday, July 8 with the 27th Pennsylvania Speedweek Series for 410 sprints plus the Moon Shine Camo Rt. 35 Late Model Challenge Series, at 7 pm.

Chris Windom Scores Port Royal USAC Eastern Storm, Blane Heimbach Gets Career Win No. 12

Port Royal – Chris Windom of Canton, Illinois, scored the 30-lap USAC sprint car main event at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday night, spoiling the party for Robert Ballou after the California driver led nearly all 30 laps of the feature.

In the regular 25-lap 410 sprint car main, Blane Heimbach of Selinsgrove overtook Ryan Taylor with two laps to go to notch his 12th career victory at Port Royal.

A one-time winner in his career at Port Royal, Ballou started second in the Eastern Storm USAC feature for the wingless sprint cars and outpaced polesitter Chad Boespflug from the beginning. Read more »
