Port Royal – While the 2013 racing season at Port Royal Speedway gets underway for sprint cars on March 16 at 6 pm featuring the 410 and 358 sprints, it will be one week later when the powerful super late models take to the track on March 23.

And the first green flag of the season for the late models will find a familiar face back on track at Port Royal in the form of six-time track champion Steve Campbell of Danville.

Campbell took his first track title back in 1997 before repeating in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006. Read more »

 Port Royal – River Valley Builders of Middleburg has announced its sponsorship of the River Valley Builders 305 Sprint Series at Port Royal Speedway this season. 

The oval is slated to kick off its season on March 9 with a practice session from 1 – 4 pm before coming back with opening day on March 16 at 6 pm featuring the 410 and 358 sprint cars. 

River Valley Builders will be the title sponsor of the nine-race, Port Royal 305 sprint point series spanning dates on April 6, April 20, May 25, June 15, June 29, July 27, August 10, August 24 and the two-day Keystone RaceSaver 305 Sprint Nationals on October 11 and 12. Read more »

Port Royal – When Port Royal Speedway opens for the 2013 season on March 16 at 6 pm, it will mark the beginning of a new chapter in the career of 410 sprint car driver
Doug Esh of Lancaster.

After more than a decade of piloting the Leach Motorsports No. 30 sprinter in the area, Esh will start anew with the Chiapelli Motorsports No. 98 team.

Team owners Tom and Fran Chiapelli paired with Esh back in November and since that time, the new team has spent the off season working toward this upcoming opening day at Port Royal Speedway. Read more »

Port Royal – Port Royal Speedway crowned its 2012 track champions and honored its top point finishers on Saturday night at the annual awards banquet held at the Port Royal Community Building.

Picking up honors were the top five in the enduro dash division and the top 10 finishers in the pro stock, late model and sprint car divisions.

Champions in all divisions received a championship ring courtesy of Foss Jewelers of Lewistown and Mifflintown along with jackets from Goodyear (sprints), American Racer (late models) and Hoosier (pro stocks) tires along with Goshorn Racing Supplies (enduros).

Port Royal – The 2013 Port Royal Speedway tentative schedule of events sponsored by Lake Chevrolet of Lewistown has been finalized with nearly 30 total events slated for the historic half-mile oval that first raced back in 1938. 

In addition, a few more events are also under review for placement on the 2013 Port Royal itinerary, one that is already quite diversified from beginning to end. 

Opening day is set for Saturday, March 16 at 6 PM, featuring an open wheel doubleheader of 410 and 358 sprint cars.  Read more »

The facility is located along 4^th St., just off of the speedway’s backstretch.

Port Royal Speedway and The Juniata County Agricultural Society Fairboard Honor and Remember late board president James L. McClure.  Deepest sympathy is extended to his family and friends at this time as we honor his service to the JCAS.

 Port Royal – The governing body of Port Royal Speedway and The Juniata County Fair, The Juniata County Agricultural Society recently completed its yearly reorganization and restructuring.

Re-elected to a third term as president of the society was Juniata County native and second-generation president, Mr. Donald Clark. 

Elected as vice president of the society was Mr. Richard Aumiller while Mr. Parrish Shellenberger returns as treasurer of the organization. Read more »
