Rain Stops Wednesday Bug Night

Port Royal – Due to falling rain and the forecast for the precipitation to continue throughout Tuesday night, Port Royal Speedway officials have pulled the plug on the Bug Night practice session that was slated for Wednesday evening, March 16.

Looking ahead, track officials saw the move as imperative in order to preserve the already very wet surface for the season opener coming up on Saturday.

“We want the track to be in the best shape we can have it for Saturday,” said PRS Promotions leader Steve O’Neal.

“And in order to do that, we can’t expose the track to the rainfall expected overnight.  We need to keep it packed tight so it doesn’t take in too much water.”

With a forecast of sun, mild temperatures and little if any rainfall expected during the second half of the week, Port Royal Speedway is wide open for the season opener featuring 410 and 358 sprints on Saturday evening.

Pit gates for the open wheel doubleheader will swing open at 3 PM with general admission gates opening at 4.  Racing is slated for 6 PM.

Adult general admission is $15.00 with students producing a student ID admitted for just $10.00
