All Stars In One Month, USAC In Two

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – 4/3/11

Port Royal – It is just 30 days until the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints invade Port Royal Speedway for the 2011 Bob Weikert Memorial and 60 days until the bravest men in sprint car racing challenge the banks of the Port when USAC hits town.

The Weikert Memorial, honoring the famed late sprint car owner from Fairfield who cherished the Juniata County oval, will be 30-laps paying $5,000 to the winner on April 30.

Traveling with the tour into Port Royal this season will be defending series champion and 2010 Knoxville Nationals titlist Tim Shaffer of Aliquippa.

Also expected to come along with the gang is Dale Blaney, David Gravel, Greg Wilson, Danny Smith and more.

The 2010 Weikert Memorial was lost due to weather.   Stevie Smith scored the most recent Weikert event, held in 2009.

A bonafide All Star has never been able to break through for a win at Port Royal.  Several All Stars have been able to muster a top-five however, getting as high as second.

And a little over a month after the All Star invasion, perhaps the biggest race of the season at Port Royal will unfold when the fire-breathing, mud-slinging, wingless USAC sprints invade Port Royal for the first time ever in history on June 4.

The roster of drivers expected to test their bravery and challenge the Port with USAC is simply tremendous.

Among them are standouts such as Levi Jones,  “The Demon” Damion Gardner, Bryan Clauson, Jon Stanbrough, Tracy Hines, Dave Darland and a host of others.

The USAC program at Port Royal will be the finale of the 2011 weeklong Eastern Storm tour by the circuit across the East.

The main event will go 40-laps in distance and payout $6,000 to win.   And in fact, the Eastern Storm tour champion will be crowned at Port Royal as the series carries its own point fund.

Make plans now to be on hand at Port Royal Speedway in coming weeks for the All Stars and USAC.
