Hall of Fame joins Weikert Memorial Saturday at Port Royal

The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame will join Port Royal Speedway Saturday night in honoring late Hall of Fame sprint car owner Bob Weikert in the All Star Circuit of Champions Bob Weikert Memorial. The Hall of Fame will have NSCHOF decals at the speedway for the memorial and the drivers who vie for bragging rights in the prestigious race will be given the opportunity to place the decals on their side panels. If the winning driver pulls into victory lane with one of the NSCHOF logo decals on his sprint car wing side panel, both he and his car owner will be awarded certificates for beautiful, black, NSCHOF winter jackets, embroidered with their names upon them. Bob Weikert was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Iowa, in 1998.

Thanks to Hoseheads.com and Sports Plus Video, sprint car heat races at this Saturday’s All Star Bob Weikert Memorial are worth $75 to win. Sports Plus joins Hoseheads.com as the official sponsors of the Weikert Memorial heat races. Keizer Aluminum Wheels joined the effort to honor late car owner Weikert earlier this week by opting to give away a pair of free front Keizer wheels to finishers 2 and 9, in honor of the Weikert’s Livestock No. 29 sprinter that was so famous. Each wheel is valued at $185 and the winner can choose from any size. The $370 giveaway value from Keizer coupled with the heat payoffs has pushed the total of contingency money and prizes slated to be distributed at the Weikert race up to $5,770. The winner of the 30-lap feature is guaranteed at least $7,100 thanks to Weikert’s Livestock of Fairfield and its family of associate sponsors. And with laps 1 – 29 each paying $100 to lead, a payday for one driver of $10,000 or more is entirely possible. The Weikert’s fast time award will be worth at least $100.

Gates open at 5 PM with time trials slated for 7 PM.
