Juniata County Fairgrounds Receives Land O’Lakes Grant Award

Port Royal – Land O’Lakes Corporation has announced that the Juniata County Agricultural Society and Fairgrounds is the recipient of a $5,000 grant in 2011, courtesy of the Land O’Lakes Foundation.

Each year, Land O’Lakes donates two percent of its pre-tax earnings to charitable giving earmarked towards resources that develop and strengthen organizations dedicated to human service, education and youth, civic and art endeavors.

Land O’Lakes representatives made the presentation to Ag Society officials Thursday evening.

“We are honored and pleased to have been chosen by Land O’Lakes for this award,” said fairboard president Don Clark upon accepting the check.

The grant money has been earmarked by the Ag Society for electrical upgrades to the historic Juniata County Fairgrounds that hosts the Juniata County fair each September.

“Thanks to companies like Land O’Lakes, country fairs like the Juniata County Fair continue to be given a fighting chance to survive in these tough economic times when funding for fairs continues to struggle in general,” Clark noted.

In 2010, the Land O’Lakes Foundation made more than two million dollars in cash contributions to communities across the country.
