Stong Memorial For Pro Stocks This Week on York County Racing Club Night,

Port Royal  – Port Royal Speedway returns to action on August 13 at 7:30 PM with a full program of Aumiller’s Insurance sprint cars, AB Auto Glass late models, 305 sprints and the Deryl Stong Memorial for pro stocks.

The special event for the pro stocks will offer an increased purse and go 20 laps in honor of the late speedway competitor, sponsor and local businessman.  The top three from each heat will redraw to start the feature event.

So far this season in pro stock action at the track, seven events for the division have had just three different winners.  Point leader Brian Towsey owns three victories while Tim Krape and Dan Berry each have a pair.

August 13 will also be York County Racing Club Night at the speedway.

A special treat for race goers at the show will be the return of the No. K33 sprint car, in honor of veteran Keith Kauffman of Mifflintown.

Kauffman’s nephew Josh Dressler had the car prepared as a surprise for his uncle at the August 6 Living Legends Dream Race that fell victim to rain and now Dressler will carry the scheme over to this week’s show.

Kauffman’s K33 is the ride synonymous with his driving debut on the scene back in the 1970s.

A make-up date and plan for the rained out August 6 Living Legends Dream Race event will be announced in the next few days.

The ARDC Midgets will visit the Juniata County oval for the second time this season coming up on August 20, along with the sprints and the late models.

And then on August 27, for the first time in 54 years the popular URC 360-powered sprints will make their return to the speedplant for a 360/358 sprint challenge event.  Also racing on August 27 will be the 410 sprints and an enduro dash.
