Late Models Debut At Port Royal This Week

Port Royal – The powerful AB Auto Glass super late models will make their first appearance of the season this Saturday, March 24 at Port Royal Fairgrounds Speedway when they team up with the Aumiller’s Insurance 410 sprints for a dual card racing program at 6 pm.

Gates for the action will open at 4 pm with Adult General Admission posted at $15.00 and students ages 12 – 18 admitted for just $5.00.

Last year, McVeytown driver Waylon Wagner scored the season opener for the late model division over Mitch Hack.

By the end of the season, nearly 10 different drivers had taken late model mains at the historic facility with Gary Beward topping the list, having scored four times.

Invader Jeff Rine scored on three occasions while Matt Parks scored twice.

Aside from Wagner, single wins in 2011 went to Hack, Andy Haus, Scott Haus, Tim Wilson and Dylan Yoder.

The late models and sprint cars will be joined on March 31 by the Miller’s Auto Parts pro stocks for the first three-division show of the season.

The month of April will kickoff with Kids Easter Night on April 7.  An egg scramble will take place in the infield and the first 200 kids entering the stands will receive a free chocolate Easter rabbit.

Racing on April 7 will be the 410 sprints, late models, pro stocks and the Juniata Tire Sales/Casner’s Service enduros.
