Weikert Memorial Heat Races Pay $100 To Win In Honor Of Late Jerry Reigle, Total event purse nears $38,000

Port Royal – The purse for Saturday’s All Star Circuit of Champions Bob Weikert Memorial at Port Royal Speedway is nearing $38,000 after the Monday addition of $100 to win each of the heat races conducted in the event in honor of the late motorsports journalist Jerry Reigle.

Returning for a second year in a row with the Weikert Memorial heat sponsorship is Hoseheads.com, the worlds premier sprint car internet website.

Only this year, the site’s founder Allan Holland of Drums is honoring his long time friend and comrade Reigle of Camp Hill, who lost a battle with cancer last August at the young age of 43.

“I think of him all the time,” says Holland of the tribute to his friend.

“ I still want to call him.”

The Jerry Reigle heat races worth $100 each gets added to the pot of gold that has become the 2012 Weikert Memorial purse.

Thanks to Weikerts Livestock and its family of sponsors, the 30-lap event is paying a whopping $10,000 to win, $500 just to start and $100 to lead a lap.

Plus, $200 is up for grabs as the fast time award and $100 courtesy of Crankwerkz will go to the highest driver in Port Royal points who fails to qualify for the prestigious event.

Fans will also be able to come away winners at the big event.

Up for grabs by general admission fans will be five-pound boxes of hamburger patties and ten-pound boxes of hot dogs.  Plus, boys and girls ages 11 and younger will get a chance to win one of 10 bicycles that will be given away at intermission.

Gates for Saturday’s $10,000 to win, $100 to lead a lap, 30-lap All Star Bob Weikert Memorial open at 5 PM with time trials slated for 7.  Adult General Admission is $20.00 with students admitted for just $5.00.

A sweep by the winner of all 30-laps plus fast time and his heat race would garner the winner more than $13,000.
