Beam Drivers Jackson, Gesford, Reinert & Nouse Join Shaffer At Port Royal Aug. 3

Living Legends Dream Race Reunites Beam/Yingst families, Offers Over $50,000 In Prize Cash

Port Royal – Port Royal Speedway’s Living Legends Dream Race on August 3 is already going to be a huge event, paying out over $50,000 in purse money and some $10,000 in contingency prizes while honoring legend driver Todd Shaffer and legend car owner Patty Beam.

But making the night more special will be a gathering of former Beam No. 88 drivers along with Shaffer himself.

The only other driver perhaps as identifiable with the Beam Racing mount as Shaffer was after1994 was Maynard Yingst who first set the car onto a speedway back in the early 1980s.

Maynard Yingst has since passed away but his brother and noted mechanic Dave Yingst, who was part of that very first Beam Team, will be on hand to help celebrate the night.

Joining Dave Yingst to meet and greet fans and sign autographs along with Shaffer will be four other Beam drivers.

In the early 1990s prior to Shaffer’s tenure, pilots Larry Jackson, Scott Gesford and Chuck Reinert Jr. wheeled the popular mount and all three men have committed to appearing at the special race to meet and greet fans before the race.

And Beam’s final pilot, Kevin Nouse will be on hand as well along with Shaffer, Jackson, Gesford and Reinert.

Nouse throttled the car during its final on-track appearances late in the 2011 season and has been quite successful in both 358 and 410-sprint car racing during his career that continues.

The 30-lap Living Legends A Main itself will pay out over $30,000 in purse money alone for the second year in a row with a pair of 16-lap semi-features offering full payouts worth nearly $10,000 each.

Time trials will set the starting lineups for the 16-lap twin semi-features that will each pay a minimum of $2,000 to win as well as the 30-lap Dream A Main that will pay a minimum of $10,000 to the winner.

Laps in each of the semi mains and the A will be worth $20 each while $100 fast time awards are up for grabs along with hard charger awards in both semis and the A feature.
