Former President Clark Passes

clarkFormer Port Royal Speedway and Juniata County Ag Society President Gerald “Jerry” Clark passed away on Thursday morning, April 23, 2015. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. His son Don is the current speedway and society president.

Gerald Clark became a fair board member in 1952 and served as board president during the 1970s and into the 1980s. Clark led the oval during and through the controversy surrounding the installation of cubic inch engine limits on sprint cars in the region when some of his decisions were noted as controversial yet in the end it was his line of thought regarding the limitations that became the norm. Clark was also noted for his support of the oval’s stock car late model division and was credited with its continuation as a headline class at the track even as sprints emerged as “king” of area short track programs.

In 2012, Jerry Clark and his son, current president Donald, were honored with the Port Royal Speedway Butch Renninger Loyalty, Dedication & Determination Awards.
