Port Royal Late Model Speedweek Grinestaff Memorial Saturday Along With 410 Sprints & Xtreme Stocks

Super Lates race in 40-lap, $4,000 to win, $400 to start affair!

Port Royal – A huge night of action packed racing will be spun of this Saturday night, May 30 at Port Royal Speedway at 7 pm as Appalachian Mountain Dirt Late Model Speedweek hits the oval with the running of the Charlie Grinestaff Memorial for super late models.

And racing along with the super lates on the program will be the 410 sprints and the Len Krautheim Auto Sales xtreme stocks.

The Grinestaff Memorial for late models will pay $4,000 to win and $400 to start the 40-lap main event with time trials setting the starting grids for the night.

Gates for the show will open at 4 pm.

Adult general admission for the super late/super sprint blockbuster program is just $22 with students ages 12- 18 priced at just $7.

Charlie Grinestaff, whom the Port Royal speedweek event honors, was one of the areas standout late model racers during the decades of the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s.

Grinestaff, of Willow Street, is credited with 44 overall late model wins in his career and was inducted into the York County Racing Club Hall of Fame in 1994.

The late model speedweek series is a six-night extravaganza of super late model stock car competition stretching across the racing-rich region.

Bedford speedway hosts the opener on May 29 followed by Port Royal on May 30, Path Valley on May 31, Cumberland Speedway on June 4, Roaring Knob on June 5 and Hagerstown Speedway has the finale on June 6.

Previous Port Royal Late Model Speedweek champions have been Jeremy Miller, 2010; Matt Parks, 2011; Rick Eckert, 2013; and Tim McCreadie, 2014.

Port Royal Speedway comes back with action on June 6 with the wingless super sprint cars of USAC invading the oval for a 30-lap, $6,000 to win main as part of the USAC Eastern Storm tour.

Also on the June 6 program is the ARDC Midgets for their only show of the season at the track and the Gray’s Auto & Towing 355 econo late models.

June 7 will also be the big Penn Central Racing/EMMR Racing Reunion night at the track with dozens of restored racers on display for the night.

The 2015 Founders Awards will also be presented to Junior Ritchey and Elmer Ruby at the June 6 program.
