After Summer Break, Port Royal Returns With Slivinski Law Military Night Aug. 1

Aug. 8 Dream Race In Sight

Port Royal – Port Royal Speedway will be dark for Summer Break on Saturday, July 25 before kicking off the month of August on Saturday, August 1 with Slivinski Law Offices Salute To The Military Night, when all past and present members of the military will receive free general admission.

Sponsored by Slivinski Law Offices of Selinsgrove, the August 1 racing program will include the Weikert’s Livestock 410 sprints, the River Valley Builders 305 sprints, the Len Krautheim Auto Sales xtreme stocks and the Bernheisel Racing Components Manufacturer’s Race for super late models.

The super lates will race in an extra distance event that will find the field receiving some $10,000 in product giveaways and double points toward the season-long track title.

As part of the military theme for the night, specially designed and produced “Little Big Shot” super hose nozzles will be on sale at the event by the Raystown Kruisers car club.

All proceeds from the nozzle sales will go to the Pennsylvania Wounded Warrior Project.

And then just one week later on August 8 the 410 sprints and the super lates will stage the 2015 version of the Living Legends Dream Race including twin semi features for sprints that set the grid for the 35-lap sprint Dream A Main and a special 21-lap, extra purse feature and overall event for the super late models in honor of Scott Haus and Ed Powell.

Honored as Living Legends at the race will be veteran driver and car owner Scotty Haus and Ed Powell, respectively.

The total event purse for both the sprint and late model payouts goes over the $65,000 mark plus another several thousand dollars in contingency prizes and cash awards will be given away to the sprint and late model drivers.

Gates for the Dream Race will open at 4 pm with WJUN 92.5 FM radio broadcasting live from the speedway prior to the big event as free hand dipped ice cream and vouchers for sandwiches are given away courtesy of Mexico Market and the Juniata County Dairy council.
