UFO Renninger Memorial Headlines Juniata Fair Opener At Port Royal Sat.,  ITTPA Tractor Pull Sun, Labor Day Classic Mon

Port Royal – Port Royal Speedway will open the 161st annual Juniata County Fair this Saturday, September 5 at 7 pm with the prestigious and lucrative 12th annual UFO Late Model Butch Renninger Memorial, offering $3,300 to win and $300 just to start the 33-lap feature plus $33 to lead each lap

The Renninger Memorial will also pay $33 to finish first, second and third in heat races for both the super lates and the econo late models.

The super late models will be joined in the Renninger Memorial program by the Weikert’s Livestock 410 sprints, Gray’s Auto & Towing 355 econo late models and the Len Krautheim Auto Sales xtreme stocks.

Both the econos and xtreme stocks will race for increased feature purses as well, all in honor of Renninger.

Butch Renninger was a three-time Port Royal late model track titlist that passed away suddenly after completing an enduro dash at the track in May, 2004 at the young age of 62.

Renninger, whose father had prepared the track prior to his son’s involvement, was a fixture at the track for some four decades, overseeing among other things the oval’s concessions and track preparation.

Hesston’s Justin Kann is the defending winner of the Renninger Memorial for late models.

Other previous winners have been: Steve Campbell, 2005; Scott Haus, 2006; Mitch Hack, 2007; Jere Wierman, 2008; TimWilson, 2009; Waylon Wagner, 2010; Jeff Rine, 2011; Greg Satterlee, 2012; Jason Covert, 2013. Super lates were not part of the first Renninger Memorial races in 2004.

Gates for the big September 5 Port Royal program will open at 4 pm with racing slated for 7 pm.

Adult general admission is set at $18 with students ages 12 – 18 priced at JUST $7.

Port Royal returns to action the next night, September 6 at 7 pm with an exciting Interstate Truck And Tractor Pullers Association sanctioned modified and turbo truck and tractor pull on the speedway frontstretch.

And then the finale for the weekend takes place on Labor Day, Monday September 7 at 1 pm with the running of the 64th annual Labor Day Classic for 410 sprints, paying $4,000 to win and $300 to start.

Econo lates and legends cars are also on the Labor Day agenda.

Fair admission is free for the Labor Day races with race admission for adults set at JUST $10 and students ages 12 – 18 priced at JUST $5.

Labor Day will conclude with a two division Demolition Derby at the track at 6 pm Monday evening with admission set at just $5 for the grandstand.
