Super Late Models Again Making News On Port Royal Speedway Sked

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – With the release of the full 2016 Port Royal Speedway schedule of events just days away, one thing is clear.

The super late models continue to grow in presence and stature on the historic oval’s slate.

Just yesterday officials announced the launching of the inaugural Port Royal Speedway/Selinsgrove Speedway Rt. 35 Late Model Series Challenge.

The series will be comprised of six race dates, three at each track located at opposite ends of Rt. 35, carrying a point payoff and series title with bragging rights up for grabs.

But within that series is one new date at Port Royal Speedway for the late models in 2016, that being Saturday, April 23 when they will share the card for a series challenge event along with the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints.

For at least five years, the super late models have not been in action at the track during this weekend but that’s all going to change in 2016 as the night beholds a special event for the Port Royal faithful with details to be announced soon.

All added up, the tentative 2016 schedule of events boasts 22 contests for the super late models during the upcoming season, beginning with the season opener on Saturday, March 12 featuring the super lates and 410 sprints at 6 pm.

Also amid the 2016 Port Royal schedule for the super lates is a pair of dates under the UFO Late Model Series banner along with a stop by Late Model Speedweek and a couple of championship races.

The UFO 358 limited late models will also be appearing at the track in 2016.

Test and Tune sessions for all divisions on the 2016 slate of events will take place on March 5 from 1 – 4 pm and on March 10 from 6 – 9 pm.
