Port Royal Races Sat. With Sprints, Lates, All Americans & Econo Twin 15s

Food Pantry/Church Youth Group Night and Kids Candy Scramble Slated

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Port Royal Speedway swings back into action this Saturday, August 20 at 7 pm with a big racing card featuring the Weikert’s Livestock 410 sprints, Aumiller’s Insurance super late models and the All American Outlaws plus twin 15’s for the Gray’s Auto & Licensing econo late models.

Twin 15-lap mains carrying full points for the econo lates and an xtreme stock main have been added to the August 20 and 27 racing programs, respectively, due to several rain outs for the divisions this season.

This Saturday will also be Food Pantry/Church Youth Group Night at Port Royal Speedway. A donation of non-perishable food items to the Juniata County Food Pantry up until 7 pm will net a discount coupon for use on general admission to the races.

A kids candy scramble will also take place in the infield following warm ups on Saturday night.

Heading into the homestretch of the season, Lancaster’s Doug Esh is on top the season sprint car point standings with a total of six point events remaining.

Driving for Mark Coldren, Esh is in a quest for a first ever Port Royal track title while Mike Wagner, who trails by 120 markes in second spot, is looking to garner a third.

Andy Haus seems to have the super late model title well under his care at this point, holding a 320 point tally on top, with a total of five point races to go.

Haus and the rest of the Port Royal faithful have their eyes set on the looming September 3 UFO-sanctioned Butch Renninger Memorial 33.

The UFO Butch Renninger Memorial 33 will go 33-laps in distance and pay $3,300 to start on September 3 as part of the kickoff races to the 162nd annual Juniata County Fair.

Port Royal driver Devin Hart is locked into a heated battle for the 2016 econo late model point title with challengers Tim Fedder and Tim Krape.

Fedder trails Hard by a scant 20 points while Krape sits just 35 points back in third spot.

The econo late models have a total of three point race dates to go on the season including this week’s twin 15s.

Adult general admission is priced at $15 for the August 20 program with students ages 12 – 18 priced at $7.
